Password Management & Expiration

To help protect your account and meet current security standards, UrVenue requires passwords for email/password accounts to be updated every 6 months. This policy applies only to users who sign in using an email address and password.

Overview

To help protect your account and meet current security standards, UrVenue requires passwords for email/password accounts to be updated every 6 months.

This policy applies only to users who sign in using an email address and password. Users who authenticate using Google Single Sign-On (SSO) are not required to change their password through UrVenue.

Before Your Password Expires

Beginning 14 days before your password expires, you'll see a notification in the upper-right corner of the UrVenue application informing you of your upcoming expiration date.

To update your password:

  1. Click the password expiration notification.

  2. Enter your current password.

  3. Create and confirm your new password.

  4. Save your changes.

Once your password is updated:

  • Your password expiration timer resets for another 6 months.

  • The notification disappears.

If Your Password Has Already Expired

Once your password expires, you will not be able to sign in until you create a new password.

When attempting to log in:

  1. Enter your email address.

  2. You'll be prompted to reset your password.

  3. Check your inbox for a password reset email from [email protected].

  4. Follow the link in the email to create a new password.

  5. Sign in using your updated password.

If you do not receive the email:

  • Check your Spam or Junk folder.

  • Select Forgot your password? from the login screen to request another reset email.

After successfully resetting your password, you'll immediately regain access and your new password will remain valid for another 6 months.

Transition for Existing Users

To avoid requiring every customer to reset their password on the same day, existing accounts are being transitioned using a staggered schedule.

Because of this:

  • Some users may receive the 14-day expiration notification.

  • Other users who haven't logged in recently may be prompted to reset their password immediately during their next login.

This is expected behavior during the transition period.

Password Requirements

Passwords must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Length: 8–64 characters

  • Uppercase: At least one uppercase letter

  • Lowercase:At least one lowercase letter

  • Number: At least one number

  • Special Character: At least one special character

  • Spaces: Not allowed

  • Personal Information: Cannot contain your name, username, or email address

  • Common Passwords: Not permitted

  • Predictable Patterns: Keyboard patterns, repeated characters, and common sequences are not allowed

  • Password History: Must be meaningfully different from your current and previously used passwords

Note: Simply adding a number or making a small change to your previous password may not satisfy the password history requirements.
